North Plains, OR
This fall I will be training current 4th graders as well as any older students who are interested in the ministry of altar servers for weekend Masses.
During this training not only are the children going to learn how to be an altar server, but they also learn the proper or formal names of the items used in the sanctuary and sacristy of the church.
The training sessions will be offered after the 9:15am Sunday Mass on the following dates 9/27, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, and 11/15 (rehearsal for commissioning). Minimum of 6 sessions must be completed.
Your child must be a baptized Catholic who has received the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist in order to serve Mass. Please mark your choice below of availability to serve and return this form by September 27, 2026 to the parish office or email it to meeuwsenbrian@gmail.com.

Once the sessions have been completed, your child will be added to the Altar Server Schedule and will be assigned along with an older server unless the child has an older sibling who has been trained. The expectation is that servers arrive at least 15 minutes prior to Mass, or Father will find a substitute. Leah Nussbaumer does the scheduling for the altar servers. Please contact her at leahnussbaumer@msn.com or 503-809-6352 if your schedule changes and you need to change your child’s availability.
Finally, SAVE THE DATE, Sunday, November 22, 2026 at the 9:15am all new altar servers will be commissioned and receive their personalized cross.
